Shake It Cerry romps in $46,700 Matron Preview
Up until the three-quarters it looked as if 47-1 long shot Noon Tea Party and driver Andy Miller had things pretty much in hand in the $46,700 Matron Preview for two-year-old trotting fillies at Dover Downs Sunday.
But that was when driver Ron Pierce decided to move the 1/9 favorite, Shake It Cerry, from third place along the rail and the daughter of Donato Hanover not only responded but as if shot from a cannon, she trotted by Noon Tea Party and then pulled away from the field, nearly winning by the length of the track in 1:54.4. Noon Tea Party held for second with Stuck By Lindy (David Miller) third.
It was the sixth win in nine starts for Shake It Cerry. She is trained by Jimmy Takter and is owned by the Solveig�s Racing Partners of East Windsor, NJ. It was the third straight victory for Shake It Cerry. She paid just $2.10 to win.
Also making it to next week�s $124,000 Matron Final will be Ruby, Fashion Hunteress, Silent Opera K, Scully Sad and Scream And Shout.
