The 2009 Black Book Mixed Sale wrapped up with its final session on Saturday at Harrisburg's Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex Sales Arena and produced a $220,000 sale topper.

Hip 2003 Southwind Wasabi, a three-year-old trotting filly sired by Windsongs Legacy out of Winkys Star, was purchased for $220,000 by Burke Racing LLC of Fredericktown, Pennsylvania. This year, Southwind Wasabi has won the American National, a division of the Bluegrass Stakes and was the runner-up in the Filly World Trotting Derby. She also took her mark of 1:52.4 in the Moni Maker at The Red Mile. Her feats on track at three added $330,356 to her $476,756 bankroll.

Hip 2212 Russell Hill earned the second highest bid of $180,000 from agent Perry Soderberg of Hightstown, New Jersey. The three-year-old Conway Hall-Southwind Maywood trotting colt earned the majority of his $448,396 bankroll this year and sports a mark of 1:56.2 taken at Meadowlands Racetrack. The New York Sires Stakes champion’s biggest win came in the Empire Breeders Championship at Vernon Downs on May 25.

Ok To Play, Hip 1973, came in third with a $155,000 price tag. The three-year-old Yankee Glide-Olympic Light trotting filly was purchased by Steven H. Stewart of Paris, Kentucky. She has earned $171,785 lifetime and sports a mark of 1:53.3 taken in her Hambletonian Oaks elimination at Meadowlands Racetrack.

Out of 537 horses sold today, 17 topped the $100,000 mark.

A total of 914 horses were sold over the course of the two-day mixed sale session grossing $20,165,600. The average price was $22,063.
