OSS Record For Bee A Magician
Bee A Magician became the fastest three-year-old trotting filly in the history of the Ontario Sires Stakes program thanks to her jaw-dropping performance of 1:52.2 in the first of two Gold Series divisions Monday evening at Mohawk Racetrack.
With Rick Zeron at the lines, Bee A Magician rallied for a two-length tally over Angies Lucky Star after that filly whacked out middle splits of :56.1 and 1:24.3 in the record-setting performance. Motown Muscle was third.
The 1:52.2 victory was two-fifth�s of a second faster than the previous OSS record of 1:52.4 which was established by Cross Of Larraine in 2010 at Mohawk Racetrack. The 1:52.2 effort was just one-fifth of a second shy of matching Check Me Out�s track and Canadian record of 1:52.1.
Richard �Nifty� Norman trains Bee A Magician for Mel Hartmann, Herb Liverman and David Mc Duffee. The daughter of Kadabra-Beehive now boasts a 5-for-5 record this season after going 10-for-13 last year. The O�Brien Award winner has banked $1,140,653 to date.
In the other $105,000 Gold Series division, Anaffairtoremember tracked cover and rallied to a career-best clocking of 1:54.1 in what was her first start of the year with trotting hopples. Jack Moiseyev swept to the front in the late stages of the mile after Brenway Dixie supplied the group with fractions of :27.3, :57 and 1:25.1. Anaffairtoremember�s final quarter of :28.2 helped her win by 2-3/4 lengths over Choir Robe, with Brenway Dixie fading to finish third.
Sent off at odds of 4-1, Anaffairtoremember won for the second time in just four career attempts for trainer Marie Dupont. The daughter of Angus Hall-Val Lee Woman has stashed away more than $60,000 in her career for the M T Pockets Stables of Pompano Beach, FL and Claude Brault of Peterborough, ON.
