Sophomore trotting fillies contested a pair of divisions in the Delvin Miller Memorial on Saturday night (July 16) at Meadowlands Racetrack. The 2015 Dan Patch Award winner Broadway Donna put on a furious rush from three wide in the final strides to win the $97,750 second division in 1:52.2.
Driven by David Miller, Broadway Donna started from post six and let Celebrity Eventsy (John Campbell) control the early fractions in :27.4, with Sunset Glider (Brett Miller) and Just Jess (Tim Tetrick) behind her.
Yannick Gingras took over the lead with All The Time at the three-eighths and held it to the :56.2 half. Just beyond the half, David Miller tipped out with Broadway Donna from fifth along the rail and was second on the outside by the 1:25 three-quarters.
When the field turned for home, Broadway Donna was in position to get the lead, with Celebrity Eventsy squeezing into contention down the stretch between Broadway Donna and All the Time along the rail.
Those three were within a few feet of each other down the stretch with Broadway Donna winning by a head over All The Time and Celebrity Eventsy a nose back in third.

“We were just taking our time getting there,” said winning driver David Miller. “I had a good filly on the lead and I wasn’t going to run at her too early. I was just taking my time. She came back real good (this year). So far so good.”
A photo could not separate Womans Will (Andy Miller) and Unica Steed (Tim Tetrick) in a photo finish for the $95,250 first division of the Delvin Miller Memorial. The time was 1:54.2 for the pair.
Womans Will and Miller were first to the lead at the :28.4 first quarter, with Haughty (Yannick Gingras) and Unica Steed (Tim Tetrick) along the rail behind the leader. The order was unchanged to the :57.4 half and the 1:26.2 three-quarters.
At that marker, Tetrick took Unica Steed off the rail to challenge and took aim at the leader all the way down the stretch. The finish line did not come up fast enough for Womans Will, as Unica Steed caught up with her in time for the dead heat. Miss Tezsla (Brett Miller) was third.
The top three finishers are all eligible for the August 6 Hambletonian Oaks at The Meadowlands.
