| About Mack Lobell The MACK LOBELL TROT honors one of the greatest trotters ever to step foot on a racetrack. Going postward 58 times in his brilliant career, MACK LOBELL wound up in the winner�s circle 41 times and earned an astounding $2,770,144. Along the way, he won the 1987 edition of The Hambletonian and also proved victorious in Breeders Crown events as a two year-old, three year-old and four year-old. In 1986, �Mack� took a two year-old mark of 1:55.3 at The Red Mile, a world record for his age, sex and gait that stood the test of time for several years. In 1987, at age three, he set the world record for the fastest trotting mile in the long history of the sport�1:52.1. At age three and four, in fact, Mack won 30 of 35 starts and close to $2,000,000. His 1:54.1 win in the 1987 Breeders Crown here at Pompano Park established a world record for three year-old trotting colts on a five eighths mile track. It is still a North American record that has been equaled on only one other occasion. MACK LOBELL was also named Harness Horse of the Year in 1987 and 1988. |
