Results for day 3
The third and last day of the Grand Prix d’Amérique-OPODO sale,
dedicated exclusively to horses in training, did not continue the upward
trend witnessed on the first two days of sale. Though an almost
identical number of horses went through the ring (121 compared to 122
last year), just over half of these (50,41%) changed hands compared to
56% in 2014 for a turnover of €1,867,000 compared to €2,353,000 last
year (down by 20%). In addition, though the average sale price remained
satisfactory (€30,600) it also witnessed a 10% decrease compared to
2014.
Overall however and given a background against which there is no need to
dwell, the results of the sales are positive, with a turnover settling
at €3,514,000 which was up compared to last year's renewal (+6%) to
return to a level which used to be reached for these sales. Though
Friday's session can be deemed a little bit disappointing, the recurring
de-correlation between the aspirations of some vendors and the demand
from a market which no longer has enough depth or diversity must be
noted, in spite of the presence of foreign buyers who remain faithful
and interested.
Top-price - €180,000 for RADIEUX, a very "French" Italian
Eagerly awaited through the ring RADIEUX (lot 302) who was consigned by
the great Swedish professional Lutfi KOLGJINI who had battled with
TUMBLE DUST (Critérium Continental 2014) in the UET qualifying round at
Solvalla last September, was knocked down for €180,000 to Ecurie Belge
Campus RPF which has been very active on the buyer's market for two
seasons and already owns a talented son of LOVE YOU (LAURIER DAG), which
no doubt led them to bid on this very talented five-year-old who was
born in Italy but is by Jean-Pierre DUBOIS’s great French sire out of a
very good mare (DORDOGNE) herself a winner at a very good level and a
result of the mating between leading Italian sire VIKING KRONOS (sire of
MAHARAJAH) out of a good mare belonging to Roger BAUDRON’s breeding
operation. A few minutes later, it was the turn of AMSTRONG JET (315),
full brother to QUAKER JET, to push the bidding when changing hands for
€175,000 when sold to Ecurie du Graal, which is run by the young
bloodstock agent Victor LANGLAIS. Another good five-year-old, A NOUS
TROIS (336) who had just won at Vincennes was sold for €150,000 to
NEUILLY BLOODSTOCK (Franck AMAR) once again very active during the
evening and the buyer of 5 lots, while another representative of Louis
BAUDRON capped the €100,000 bar (at €115,000 exactly): CONGA, a daughter
of GOETMALS WOOD who was very impressive recently and will now run in
the colours of Gérard AUGUSTIN-NORMAND who had previously bought the
talented BOURBON SOMOLLI at this sale last year.

Results for day 2
The second day of the Grand Prix d’Amérique sale, which was dedicated to
breeding stock and in which the organisers had chosen to reintroduce a
select number of broodmares, achieved a turnover of €956,000 (not
including the stallion shares auctioned by sealed bid) up by 33%
compared to the same day last year. In addition to this satisfactory
turnover, the clearance rate (68%) was clearly up on that of last year
(54%). In line with this the average and median prices were also
respectively up at €16,000 and €12,000.
A top price of €53,000 for a PRODIGIOUS share
The top price of this session was paid for a PRODIGIOUS share which went
for €53,000 to JLB Management following the advice of Gérard BOURGEOIS
(Horse 2000 Courtage), while Edouard MEIER FEIL had to go to €52,000 to
secure the last share for QUAKER JET to be offered at auction. The Prix
d’Amérique winner ROYAL DREAM’s share caught the eye of an investor who
chose to remain anonymous at €46,000.
On the broodmares’ side QUEEN JET, a daughter of VIKING’S WAY and sister
to the excellent PRETTY JET, whose first offspring of racing age had
just run well first time out, changed hands for €40,000 to go to
NORMANDIE TROT (run by Michel GASSELIN and Dimitri GALLIER), while
TOOTSIE SMILING consigned in foal (nomination paid) to QUAKER JET will
now join the Jacquets breeding operation for €33,000. Thomas BERNEREAU
racing spent €29,000 on BELISHA PERLE, a daughter of the champions READY
CASH & FINE PERLE coming out of training. She will now join the DUBIEFs
breeding operation (under the « NOYER » banner).
Finally, it is worth noting that the agency NORMANDIE TROT proved the
most active during this session with 4 lots bought for a total of
€93,000.

Results for day 1
The first day of the Grand Prix d’Amérique Sale turned out to be in line
with the activity it usually generates, with a market for "ready to run
horses aimed at the provinces" providing an average sale price of €,7600
and a clearance rate of 67%. Elsewhere, a quarter of the horses sold (19
out of 79) made €10,000 or more, with a top price of €27,000 for lot 65
(BEAUTE DARCHE) who was knocked down to Nicolas ENSCH, who also bought
VALEO DU LOT for €16,000.
The turnover reached over €676,000, a figure well up on last year where
the number of horses offered for sale was particularly low. Figures
therefore indicated an increase, with over 70% of horses sold and an
average sale price of €7,000.
Aside from the top price, Ecurie DARCHE was consigning 28 lots, with 22
changing hands (78%) for a total of €200,000 and an average sale price
of €9,100 compared to the overall average which was around €7,300.
Also worth noting was Aymeric THOMAS’s purchase of CAATINGA DARCHE
(€20,000), a daughter of NI HO PED D’OMBREE who had looked very good on
the track in the morning, as had CALLIANGA DE NILE (lot 35) bought by M.
FRASCA. VICI DU VIVIER was presented as a supplementary entry by Ecurie
des CHARMES and will now go into training with Sébastien HARDY who had
to push the bidding to €20,000.
