HAL DALEYear of Birth: 1926Immortal: Yes Elected as Immortal: 1956 Year of Death: 1955 Gait: Pacer Record: p,6,2:02 1/4 Earnings: $595 Sire: Abbedale Dam: Margaret Hal Sire of Dam: Argot Hal Biography: Bred by William A. Thompson and foaled at his Ben Hur Farm, New Ross, Indiana, Hal Dale was a product of the first stud season spent by Abbedale. The colt and his dam Margaret Hal were sold a year later, in 1927, to A. A. McClamrock of Frankfort, Indiana. Hal Dale did not get down to competing until 1932, when he won handily at Goshen, Indiana and at LaPorte, Indiana. Tendon trouble ended his free-legged pacing career. After the death of McClamrock, Hal Dale was purchased by Leo McNamara, Sr. at auction for $2,000 in 1936. He was most successful at the stud, siring such greats as Adios 1:57 1/2, Good Time 1:57 4/5, Keystoner 1:57.4, Walter McKylo 1:58 4/5, plus a long list of two-minute performers. Hal Dale's daughters produced their share of two-minute horses, too. Hal Dale died on October 16, 2022 at Two Gaits Farm, Carmel, Indiana.
