Founders of the Standardbred

| Here's a
contribute to all the different families that took part in develop the standardbred. In
the beginning there was no standard type of breed that could be called the American
trotter, the trotters were in no sense a breed. But there were a group of horse families
with one thing in common, their ability to trot. Hambletonian 10 has been called the ancestor of the standardbred but he alone did not contribute to the development and the influences of the other families are important even though they do not exist today. |
