Always B Miki wins American-National Open Pace
Always B Miki used a bold power move just past the :26.4 opening panel and never looked back, drawing off to win the $136,500 American National Open Pace in 1:49.1 Saturday night (Nov. 7) at Balmoral Park.
Driven by David Miller for trainer Jimmy Takter, the son of Always A Virgin paced confidently to win his fourth victory this season in as many tries. The triumph gave Miller and Takter their third American-National wins of the night.
“The half was a little tough on him, but the third quarter was a little softer,” Miller said. “He’s a very sensible horse and you can do almost anything with him. He’s got incredible athletic ability and has handled that ability quite well.”
Always B Miki now has $1,328,076 in his career coffers for co-owners Bluewood Stable, Roll The Dice Stable and Christina Takter, and has four wins in four starts this season. Bred by Roll The Dice Stable of Delaware, Always B Miki bested rivals Luck Be Withyou (Tim Tetrick) and Bettor’s Edge (Joe Bongiorno), who was third.
