With Corey Callahan at the lines, Googoo Gaagaa [$3] made the lead just before the before the half and opened up in the lane to take the first of two Simpson divisions on the card in 1:54.1. Royal Shyster and Gym Tan Laundry were a distant second and third, respectively.
Now eight-for-nine lifetime, Googoo Gaagaa was undefeated in six starts last year. He set a world record for a 2-year-old trotter on a half-mile track with a 1:56 victory in the Maryland Sires Stakes Final on August 25, 2022 at Ocean Downs. Ironically, the cross-bred colt is the son of a pacer, Cam's Rocket, out of the Veeba Rova mare Kora's Trotter. He is owned, bred and trained by Richard Hans ofWestminster, MD.
