Hambletonian eliminations are in the bag...
 Broad Bahn and Manofmanymissions emerged the ones to beat in the harness racing $1.5 million Hambletonian after capturing their
 elimination dashes on Saturday night at Meadowlands Racetrack.

Broad Bahn made the lead before the quarter and held off a late charge by Chapter Seven to win the first elim by three-quarters of a length in 1:53. Driven by George Brennan, Broad Bahn paid $9.80. Fawkes held third after sitting a pocket trip behind the winner. Whit (fourth) and Luckycharm Hanover (fifth) also advanced to the Hambletonian final on Saturday, August 6.

"I was able to rate my mile and give him his head at the top of the lane and he responded well," Brennan said.

"Yannick [Gingras and Fawkes] went out pretty good [at the start] and we got a good jump on him. [Broad Bahn] kept it going at a decent clip. He's got a great attitude. He's big, he's strong, he gets himself where he's got to be at the beginning of the race."

Broad Bahn improved his record to three wins in seven starts this season. Noel Daley trains the son of Broadway Hall-Madonarail for Fam Alber Horse Racing of East Windsor, NJ.

Manofmanymissions surged past Magnum Kosmos after a tough, first over trip to win the second elim in 1:52.4. Andy Miller steered the son of Yankee Glide to his third win in five starts this season. Erv Miller, Andy's older brother, trains Manofmanymissions, who paid $2.80. Pastor Stephen, Opening Night and Whiskey Tax also advanced to the final.

"I had to remind him a little bit [to keep trotting]," Andy Miller said. "He's always been that way, but when I asked him, he kept going. I was pretty sure I would get by that horse [Magnum Kosmos] but he still felt like he had enough trot to go on. I've always known that he's had a lot of go. That's always been in the back of my mind and now we're here."

Manofmanymissions romped to a career best 1:52.1 in the Stanley Dancer Memorial in his start prior. However, consistency has been an issue for the colt.

"When he's on his A game, he's one of the best horses in his field," Erv Miller said. "I think he's the fastest horse, but he's got to be on his A game. Last week he was, this week he wasn't quite as sharp. Hopefully next week will be his A game."

Mystical Marker Farms, M. Biasuzzi Stable and Manofmanymissions Stable own the colt.
